How I Learned to Use My Cell Phone
By: Tiffany Lewis
Mobile technology has experienced warp-speed growth over the past two decades. It has gone from a luxury that only very few people were lucky enough to experience to an absolute necessity that most people in the Western world have forgotten how to live without. Think about 10 of your closest friends, business partners or acquaintances – if you know one person that still doesn’t have a cell phone, the other nine are probably hooked up to theirs for hours each day! Thinking back, I can hardly remember what it was like when I couldn’t just snap my phone out of my purse and make a quick call to discuss something that 10 years ago could probably have waited until I was home or the next time I saw that person! What an interesting ride it has been – since 1985, I’ve experienced approximately 7 car phones, 4 cell phones and a BlackBerry – and that doesn’t include the dozens of models I worked with in a previous job managing hundreds of cell phones for a busy healthcare organization! Through all of that experience, each phone I’ve encountered has had its own little peculiarities, bonuses and drawbacks – and each one has brought its fair share of interesting learning curves and funny experiences.
