Johnny Chan is a unique individual and amazing poker player. He was born in Canton, China and immigrated to the United States when he was only 9. Chan was a born gambler and loved to play card games since a very young age. Johnny loved to play blackjack and was hitting the tables on the strip at the tender age of 16. He wasn’t a born winner and blackjack definitely wasn’t his game, he lost a small fortune playing blackjack. Finally, after his unsuccessful bout with blackjack Chan taught himself how to play poker.

Johnny worked many jobs in Vegas before he finally saved up enough to begin entering tournaments. Johnny was able to make a name for himself in Vegas and won the WSOP in 1985. This would not be his first win. Johnny’s aggressive and unruly style of play intimidates experienced and newbie poker players to this day. He has won 10 WSOP bracelets and wants to win more! Johnny is one of the most entertaining players to watch. Many times he brings oranges to the casino. He says he enjoys the way they smell and help him play better.
