There will be different denominations in a set of poker chips. The colors used commonly in United States are white of blue for $1, Pink for $2.5, Red for $5, Blue for $10, Green for $25, Black for $100 and Lavender for $500.
The blackjack tables invariably use the chips in the denomination of $2.5, while the pink chips of $7.50-$15 and $10-$20 are found used at Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. There is possibility of yellow chips of low-denomination varying in value, as stated here : $20 in Atlantic City and Illinois. (They also use $0.50 chips in mustard-yellow) ; $5 in most of poker games of Southern California ; $2 in poker games of Foxwood in Ledyard, Connecticut and also at Casino del Sol in Tucson, Arizona ; and $0.50 at Potawatomi Casio in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
It is notably statutory to use occasionally Blue chips of $10 in Atlantic City. The blue or gray chips of $1 are used in most of the casinos of Las Vegas and California.
Chips in the denomination of $1000 are commonly available. This depends on the wagering limits of the casino concerned. Often, these chips will be of larger size and in yellow or orange. The chips in the denominations of $5000, $10000, $25000 and higher value are available in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and other areas where the typically high wagers are permitted, and colors varying wildly for these denominations.
The plaques are also used by the European casinos in place of higher denomination chips. The players in home games can also buy the Casino-style chips, but each chip costs approximately US$1. Generic poker chip sets will be available for buying at less than $0.20 per chip which is a much lower price. These being of very inferior quality, will simulate the weight and feel of casino chips.
