Betting in Omaha Hi/Lo Poker

The player at immediate left to the button is called the ‘Small Blind’. This small blind will be forced to bet before each player is dealt four down cards. This bet is half the minimum. Then comes the ‘Big Blind’. The player to the left of small blind and two seats left to the button is the big blind. Now, the big blind is forced to bet the minimum bet.

Then a four card hand is dealt to each player. The first to act will be the player to the big blind’s left. The player left to big blind should either call the bet of big blind, raise or fold his hand. This game continues this way clockwise by either calling, raising or folding by all the players around the table. When the small blind gets back to the betting, the bet placed earlier may be folded and lost. He can call the amount needed to go up to the level of betting or raise. The player then to act last will be big blind before any cards are turned up in the middle. The first round only will have the play by the blinds.

Three cards will be turned up in the center of the table, by the dealer. This is known as ‘Flop’. As in the usual way, the first to act will be the player at the button’s left. The forced bets will not be there any more and the players desire, they can all check around. The bets will be at the minimum bet level after the flop.

The ‘Turn’ card play follows where it is played with more betting which will have the level of higher minimum bet.

The next round is the last round where “River” card will be turned up, followed by the last betting round. The hole cards are revealed by the players who are still contesting. In the course, the pot is won by the highest hand or it is split with the lowest hand qualifying as low. It is ideal no doubt to win the high end without split or to have winning cards both ways.
